Aide to the President, State Council Secretary Igor Levitin and Samara Region Governor Dmitry Azarov chaired a meeting of the State Council Working Group on Culture via videoconference.
Taking part in the meeting were Deputy Culture Minister Olga Yarilova, Chair of the Federation Council Committee for Science, Education and Culture Lilia Gumerova, heads of Russian regions and their deputies on culture as well as representatives of interested federal executive bodies and the cultural community.
Deputy Culture Minister Olga Yarilova updated the Working Group members on the developments in culture during the pandemic as well as the ministry’s work to support cultural institutions hit by the spread of the coronavirus and she described additional measures and proposals developed in cooperation with the Russian Federation Government.
Head of the State Council Working Group on Culture, Samara Region Governor Dmitry Azarov noted in his report that the latest amendments to the Constitution made culture a basic value in Russia and highlighted its unifying role. Culture is the most important area where concepts are created and it needs active support from government bodies at all levels.
The meeting participants noted that developments encouraged many interesting online initiatives for cultural institutions: experience that will be useful for the development of the digital dimension of culture and the arts.
The Working Group also analysed successful regional practices to implement the Culture national project.
