In his opening remarks, Igor Levitin noted that Russia’s domestic tourism is experiencing a boost and the main goal for all the market participants, Russian regions, competent ministries and agencies is to create attractive conditions for recreation. That requires further improving the regulatory framework, inhtroducing digital services, resolving logistical and transport accessibility issues, and developing infrastructure. Tourism may actually catalyse socioeconomic development in many regions.
The meeting’s speakers included Chair of the State Council Commission on Tourism, Physical Culture and Sport and Governor of the Primorye Territory Oleg Kozhemyako, Governor of the Kamchatka Territory Vladimir Solodov, Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism Zarina Doguzova, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Vakhrukov, Deputy Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities Yury Gordeyev, Chair of the State Duma Committee on Tourism and Tourist Infrastructure Development Sangadzhi Tarbayev and heads of municipalities. The discussion was joined by representatives of businesses and tourism development institutes.
After the meeting and in line with the President’s Executive Order on regulating the working bodies of the State Council, a working group was established to prepare for a meeting of the State Council Presidium on the development of tourism in the Russian Federation.
