Among the meeting participants were members of the council’s presidium and deputies of presidential plenipotentiary envoys to the federal districts, representatives of federal and regional executive bodies, atamans of Cossack military communities and national Cossack associations, and priests of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The meeting began with an awards ceremony. Atamans of Cossack military communities, Cossacks, benefactors and volunteers received state decorations of the Russian Federation, certificates of merit and letters of commendation from the council.
In his opening remarks, Dmitry Mironov noted that Russian Cossacks had proved their loyalty to the Russian nation: volunteer Cossack units are consistently signing contracts with the Defence Ministry to serve in the special military operation. The Presidential Aide added that creating a legal and organisational framework for the Russian Cossack forces as the core of the personnel reserves available for mobilisation is one of the current tasks. Another task is assisting the development of volunteer Cossack units within the Russian Armed Forces.
Timofei Chaikin, Executive Secretary of the Synodal Committee on Cossack Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church, read out greetings from Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk, Chair of the Synodal Committee and Chair of the Synodal Department on Cooperation with Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies.
Ataman of the All-Russian Cossack Society and State Duma Deputy Nikolai Doluda reported on the All-Russian Cossack Society’s support measures for the Cossacks serving in the special military operation and their families. The report was co-presented by Nikolai Dyakonov, Chair (Supreme Ataman) of the Union of Cossack Fighters in Russia and Abroad.
Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs Stanislav Bedkin informed the participants about work to support initiatives on creating local Cossack communities by the residents of the new Russian constituent entities. Viktor Vodolatsky, First Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, expanded on Mr Bedkin’s report.
Relevant decisions were adopted following the meeting.
