Those at the meeting discussed preparations for the Russian delegation’s participation in the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, to be held in the UAE on November 30 – December 12, 2023, and outlined plans for expanding international cooperation related to climate change and sustainable development.
The participants also reviewed the information provided by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Roskachestvo national quality control system on educational programmes in the field of climate change and sustainable development, and noted the need to expand educational cooperation with friendly countries.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Rosstat federal statistics service reported on the progress made in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal SDG 15 Life on Land (protect, restore and promote the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and stop and reverse land degradation and stop biodiversity loss). The UN has defined 14 indicators for Goal 15 (including repeats); the Russian Federation has been working on seven of them and included them in the Federal Plan for Statistical Work.
