Maria Lvova-Belova showcased the results of four strategic programmes, including Teenagers of Russia, Lifetime Support, Children in the Family and A Country for Children. The council’s experts helped draft these programmes.
The Commissioner for Children’s Rights noted that 32 day-care centres for children with disabilities had started functioning under the Lifetime Support programme, with the assistance of NGOs. Since the first centre opened, 3,545 families have obtained assistance to date. About 2,000 doctors and 105 caring communication coaches have learned how to disclose medical diagnoses in a tactful manner. They have started training personnel who will maintain caring communication with children affected by the autism spectrum disorder and their parents.
Under the Country for Children strategic programme, they are actively supporting families in hostilities-affected regions. Five headquarters centres, deployed in the new regions, will provide targeted humanitarian assistance. Over 3,000 children and families have completed their socio-psychological adaptation. Next year, we will conduct this work for children of the special military operation participants, Maria Lvova-Belova noted.
A network of centres for teenagers under the Teenagers of Russia programme is expanding. Over 100 facilities are already operating, including three in the new regions.
About 3,000 teenagers have obtained career guidance and jobs, and this work will continue.
Maria Lvova-Belova shared the first results of conducting the first nationwide inspection of the social orphanage prevention system. In five months, 36 territories have been inspected, and about 1,300 personal cases opened. There are plans to conduct an inventory of all Russian regions by June 1, 2025.
The Commissioner for Children’s Rights also set forth high-priority guidelines for 2025.
The heads of the public council’s eight working groups shared the results of their work. At the end of the meeting, the participants submitted their proposals on improving the council’s performance.
