During her trip, the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights met with Governor of Chukotka Vladislav Kuznetsov and held an expanded meeting with heads of the prevention bodies and institutions in the region. She also held private sessions with local families.

At the meeting with the governor, Maria Lvova-Belova noted that the inspection team had already analysed the work of local institutions and organisations, including state assignments, the management model and state programmes, as well as the work of family assistance services. She stressed that the main task now was to make assistance to families systemic and accessible.

During the meeting, the parties discussed recommendations for the region on how the situation with the prevention of social orphanhood can be improved. Vladislav Kuznetsov noted that, regardless of where children live — in a city or in a remote village — they should be able to receive support and assistance. The governor emphasised that the number of families in a difficult situation in the region is relatively low, making it possible to carry out targeted work with each family.

Maria Lvova-Belova also held an expanded meeting with directors of prevention institutions, where she offered her recommendations.

Maria Lvova-Belova also visited the Chukotka Social Rehabilitation Centre for Minors, where she inspected its activities and received members of the public.
