
In his address, Ruslan Edelgeriyev emphasised the need to ensure the environmental wellbeing of soils for the future stable socioeconomic development of our country, while also underscoring the importance of preventing processes that lead to the loss of land potential. The Presidential Aide stressed that positive results in combating land degradation and desertification can only be achieved through sustained long-term efforts.
According to Mr Edelgeriyev, these problems transcend borders, and therefore their solution must be grounded in international cooperation, scientific approaches, and technological development, particularly in digital systems, remote sensing technologies, and artificial intelligence.
In conclusion, the Special Presidential Representative on Climate Issues expressed his support for the development of a comprehensive Land Policy Strategy for the period until 2036.
Following the meeting, the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences will submit its recommendations to the Government.
