Aide to the President and Special Presidential Representative on Climate Issues Ruslan Edelgeriyev chaired a meeting of the expert group on the rational use of water resources for sustainable development under the interdepartmental working group of the Presidential Executive Office.
During the meeting, participants discussed key outcomes of the third UN Ocean Conference held in Nice (France), as well as matters pertaining to the international water agenda and the stance of the Russian Federation ahead of the resumed fifth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to develop an international legally binding document on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment, in Geneva (Switzerland).
The meeting was attended by representatives of federal executive authorities and the scientific community. Following the discussions, further steps were outlined to coordinate Russia’s position in international negotiations on water and environmental agendas.
