The event was organised by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in conjunction with President of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at the UN Headquarters.
In his remarks, Ruslan Edelgeriyev emphasised Russia’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations under the Paris Agreement and presented the Russian Federation’s updated and more ambitious nationally determined contribution towards achieving climate goals.
Special attention was given to ensuring fair and non-discriminatory access to technologies and Russia’s climate regulation system. The full implementation of the comprehensive set of climate policy measures requires adherence to a number of conditions, including the principle of neutrality, barrier-free access to international verification infrastructure, and the effective development of international cooperation.
