Sergei Ivanov congratulated employees and veterans of the civil air fleet on the holiday and thanked them for their professional, heartfelt attitudes toward their work.
The Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office stressed that the development of regional aviation is among the sector’s most important challenges. In some regions, air service remains the only travel option, which means that it fulfils an important social and geopolitical function. Mr Ivanov expressed the hope that soon, the problem of transport accessibility to distant regions will be completely resolved.
The Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office remarked that currently, there is a shortage of personnel in the sector. In order to overcome this situation, Russian educational institutions were requested to significantly increase their intake of future aviation professionals. Soon, no fewer than 1,000 new students will be entering aviation degree programmes every year.
Sergei Ivanov noted that according to expert assessments, the air transport market in Russia has excellent prospects. The demand for high-quality services is growing. And major international events like the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Football World Cup will certainly play an important role, setting higher standards.
