Apart from the Commission’s members, the meeting was attended by representatives of ministries, regional executive authorities and public organisations, as well as leading experts.
In her opening remarks, Presidential Adviser Alexandra Levitskaya spoke of the need for federal and local executive authorities to pay greater attention to planning and holding various events with participation by people with disabilities in connection with the upcoming Day of Persons with Disabilities marked on December 3.
The discussion also covered the drafting of regulatory legal acts, action plans (‘road maps’) and administrative regulations to enhance the accessibility for the disabled of social, engineering, housing and transport infrastructure facilities and services to implement the Federal Law On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation Following Ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Meeting participants noted the need to complete this work by January 1, 2016, and to develop a system to oversee the implementation of the Federal Law.
The Commission made recommendations to the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection to submit a report in April 2016 on measures taken to finalise the work following the enactment of the Federal Law.
