During the presentation of the plan for the 2013 World Student Games Dmitry Medvedev was shown a computer version and models of the sports facilities and surroundings for the participants in the World Student Games. These included plans for a tennis academy with 14 courts, a new football stadium, the Palace of Water Sports, a shooting range, a boxing centre and the Chess Palace.
The President also looked at the plan to rebuild Kazan’s international airport which will increase passenger traffic to the city tenfold, bringing it up to 5 million passengers a year.
Dmitry Medvedev learned about the plans for new high-speed roads and junctions, the construction project for six new subway stations in Kazan, as well as a joint investment project with Russian Railways to develop passenger and cargo rail traffic that costs 106 billion rubles.
The head of state wished Kazan success as it implements its ambitious plans.
Dmitry Medvedev then met with President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiyev.
