Minister Fursenko told the President about preparations undertaken by Russian schools for the upcoming school year.
They also discussed the preparations underway in South Ossetian schools for 1 September 2008. According to Mr Fursenko, more than 60 per cent of children are registered in schools in the Republic of South Ossetia and the remaining children can start the school year in North Ossetia as well as in other neighbouring regions.
Of the 55 schools in South Ossetia, 49 are ready for the beginning of the new school year, whereas the rest require major repairs, the Minister said.
The President instructed Andrei Fursenko to closely monitor the situation so that children from South Ossetia are able to study either at home in their Republic or in other places.
