Mr Yakunin informed the President about the results of the railway sector’s activities over the last six months, saying in particular that Russian Railways’ growth in freight transport was 1.7 percent higher for the company compared to the rest of the country’s transport system.
The meeting also discussed the situation with rail transport in the two newly recognised independent states of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, aid to help Abkhazia rebuild its railway infrastructure, and a number of international projects.
The sector’s preparations for the winter season and changes to the current price policy also received particular attention.
