The meeting with Russia’s President, which has become an annual tradition for the club, took place at the GUM Exhibition Centre in Moscow.
Mr Medvedev answered a number of questions from political analysts, including on events in the Caucasus and their international consequences, Russia’s economic cooperation strategy with countries in the East and the West, and ways and prospects for overcoming the crisis on the Russian stock market.
The Valdai club was founded in October 2004, and brings together leading foreign specialists on Russia and Russian political analysts, journalists and public figures. The central theme of the club’s discussions this year is ”Russia's Role in the Global Geopolitical Revolution of the Early 21st Century ‘. Around 80 delegates from Russia, the USA, the UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, Japan, China, India, Israel and Iran are taking part in the discussions.
