“Over the years, this competition has earned international renown and developed marvellous traditions and a uniquely recognisable style”, Mr Medvedev said in his message. “The great composer Chopin’s music has always united people in their aspiration for beauty, and over these days it will be performed by talented young people from Russia and other countries. I hope these young people’s talent and great love of art will touch listeners’ hearts and that the competition itself will be an important step for each of the participants, bring them success and help them in their creative development”.
Young pianists from nine countries, all under 16, are taking part in the competition. The jury is composed of musicians and teachers from Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, France, and the Republic of Korea.
