Vladimir Putin played for the amateur team against the team of Russian hockey legends and scored two goals.
After the match, the President discussed preparations for the 2014 Olympics in Sochi and the World Hockey Championship, which will be held in Russia in 2016, with International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) leadership. Participants in the meeting included IIHF President Rene Fasel, IOC Coordination Commission Chairman Jean-Claude Killy, acting sports, tourism and youth policy minister Vitaly Mutko, First Deputy Speaker of the State Duma and President of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov, and distinguished guests Silvio Berlusconi and Gerhard Schroeder.
The Russian Hockey Festival for amateur teams is organised by the Russian Amateur Hockey League and is held in Moscow on May 1 through 8. 92 teams from 76 regions arrived in Moscow to participate in the competition. The Russian Amateur Hockey League was created on the initiative of Vladimir Putin and Russian hockey veterans.
