The ceremony dedicated to the 67th anniversary of the Victory was attended by Acting Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov, Acting Head of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov, Acting Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, Speaker of the State Duma Sergei Naryshkin, Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, President of the Constitutional Court Valery Zorkin, heads of other ministries and departments, deputies, senators and Great Patriotic War veterans.
A ceremonial march by the Moscow garrison troops concluded the ceremony.
Vladimir Putin also laid flowers at the memorial signs established in honour of the hero-cities by the Kremlin wall and memorial signs of the Cities of Military Glory.
Earlier, the President signed an Executive Order conferring the honorary title of City of Military Glory on two Russian cities: Mozhaysk and Maloyaroslavets.
Today is the 45th anniversary of the Eternal Flame in the Alexander Garden. On May 7, 1967 a torch was lighted from the Eternal Flame in the Field of Mars in Leningrad, which was brought to Moscow on May 8.
