The President’s telegram reads, in part:
“You are rightly considered one of our country’s most prominent statesmen. You have almost two decades of experience as the head of Russia’s Emergencies Ministry and you have helped to save thousands of lives. And, of course, you have significant experience in resolving the most complex administrative challenges.
I am certain that your personal and professional skills will be in full demand at your post as head of the region, which plays a particular role in our nation.
You will need to focus on priority areas such as improving social infrastructure, attracting investments, modernising production and ensuring stable growth in all sectors of the economy. That is the only way we can achieve a real improvement in our citizens’ living standards.”
The President signed Executive Order releasing Army General Sergei Shoigu from his duties as Russia’s Minister of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Natural Disasters Relief due to his appointment as Governor of Moscow Region.
