“Developing the agriculture and food processing sector has always been one of the state’s biggest priorities and remains so today, Mr Medvedev said in his message.
Effective work in this sector is vital for our country’s food security and the prosperity of millions of our citizens.
We need now to consolidate the positive changes that have taken place in the agriculture and food-processing sector over these last years. Above all, we need to continue technological modernisation, upgrade agricultural equipment, and introduce new forms of private-public partnership. These are all steps that will help to strengthen the sector’s potential and make it more competitive and attractive for long-term investment. We need to give priority attention to connecting rural areas to the gas network, improving infrastructure, and building modern housing, roads and social facilities.”
Agriculture and Food Processing Workers’ Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in October.
