The Government has been instructed to establish a comprehensive emergency alert system by January 1, 2014, in order to ensure that the public receives timely and guaranteed information about the threat of an emergency or an emergency occurrence. The effort is also aimed at developing a nationwide emergency prevention and relief system.
The Government is also to introduce amendments to the Russian legislation stipulating the establishment of an integrated emergency alert system and the organisation of its operation as part of the nationwide emergency prevention and relief system.
The Government, in conjunction with the regional authorities, has been charged with taking steps to upgrade the existing public warning system and prepare it for use as part of the nationwide emergency prevention and relief system.
