Dmitry Medvedev looked at the cosmodrome's Soyuz-2 space rocket testing complex.
This is where missile parts are prepared and assembled into a coherent whole before they are ready to launch.
The first launch by the Soyuz-2 missile launcher was successfully carried out at Plesetsk on 8 November 2004. Used together with the Fregat booster which is produced here, in the next 10 to 15 years the Soyuz-2 missile launcher will become the primary means of launching satellites into low circular and high elliptical orbits.
The head of state laid a wreath at the monument to the space conquerors who died while testing rocket and space technology.
