In his message of congratulations the President said, in particular:
“Your tireless and selfless work and devoted service to our country and people have earned you undisputed authority. Your efforts have filled the productive dialogue between the Church and the state with new substance.
The Russian Orthodox Church plays an active part in solving important social problems, carrying out educational work, and doing much to protect families, mothers and children, educate young people and strengthen enduring spiritual and moral values in our society. You make your pastor’s voice heard, calling the people to peace and unity and to acts of mercy and love.
I am sure that under your guidance the Church will continue responsibly performing its lofty mission.”
