The theme of the Russian bid is The Global Mind. The Future of Globalisation and its Impact on Our World.

Apart from Yekaterinburg, Izmir (Turkey), Ayutthaya (Thailand), Dubai (UAE) and São Paulo (Brazil) are bidding for the right to host Expo 2020. The final vote will take place at the General Assembly of the International Exhibitions Bureau in Paris in November 2013.

If Yekaterinburg wins the bid, an Expo Park will be built on the bank of the Verkh-Isetsky Pond, which will house the event’s participants and visitors. After the event, the Expo Park will be transformed into a new residential development, home to over 70,000 people. The exhibition area will house shopping malls, as well as the Malachite Box Urals cultural centre.
