“Ecologists’ Day is not just the professional holiday of specialists in the environmental protection field. Today, we also congratulate members of scientific and public organisations, activists, volunteers and all those who are aware and involved, everyone who, whether by professional duty or answering their heart’s call, are contributing to this very important work of looking after our natural wealth.
Effectively managing natural resources is one of the foundations of countries’ sustainable growth. It directly influences preservation of our planet’s flora and fauna and, even more important, the quality of life and health of millions of people. Rational natural resources use and improving the environmental situation are among our major national priorities.
These are without question areas in which we should strengthen cooperation between the state authorities, civil society institutions, and business community. Russia declared 2013 the Year of the Environment, and this is the perfect opportunity for each of us to make a personal contribution to this noble cause. Only by uniting our efforts will we achieve success.”
