The President’s telegram reads in particular:
“Your forum is an important event bringing together leading specialists in the transplantology field, and it is also a good opportunity for discussing a wide range of professional matters.
Transplantology today is one of the most technologically advanced and multi-profile areas of modern medical science. Continued effective development in this field depends to a great extent on rational organisation and coordinating the work of various medical institutions, and consolidating the efforts of clinicians and scientists. Of course, another important issue is that of improving the legislative base, including the organisational, legal and ethical aspects of organ donation.
But real progress is possible if the hard work and professionalism of doctors is backed up by the state’s efforts and by civil society’s energetic and determined involvement.
I hope that your congress will analyse all of these different issues thoroughly and produce concrete decisions and recommendations that meet the demands of real life practice.”
The IV All-Russian Congress of Transplantologists, dedicated to the memory of outstanding surgeon Valery Shumakov, is taking place at the Transplantology and Artificial Organ Research Institute in Moscow.
Leading Russian and foreign specialists in healthcare organisation, transplantology, heart surgery, nephrology and hepatology are taking part in the congress.
