On the President’s request, the athletes explained the rules of ice sledge hockey and how they differ from traditional ice hockey. The team thanked Mr Putin for supporting ice sledge hockey and the great organisation of accommodation in Sochi.
At the end of the meeting, the team gave Vladimir Putin an ice sledge hockey stick. On the athletes’ request, the President also signed the Paralympic national ice sledge hockey team’s banner.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak and Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko also participated in the meeting.
Ice sledge hockey is the Paralympic version of ice hockey. The Russian national ice sledge hockey team of 17 players is participating in the Paralympics for the first time.
