After the meeting to discuss flood relief measures in the Far East, which was held on the territory of the Nizhne-Bureiskaya Hydroelectric Power Station, Vladimir Putin inspected the construction of the station.
Innovative technologies are used in the power station’s construction, some of them being applied in Russia for the first time, such as technologies that make it possible to work at extremely low temperatures.
There are over 1,500 people working on the construction site. The capacity of the power station, which will have four generating units, will be 320 megawatt.
On his request, the President was briefed on measures to protect the station from spring flooding. It is greatly due to these safety precautions that the construction was not affected by last year’s major floods in the Far East.
The construction is to be completed in 2016. The station’s capacity will be used by the new industrial facilities that are being built in the Far East and by the Vostochny Space Launch Centre.
