The slogan of the 16th APEC forum is “A New Commitment to Asia-Pacific Development.” This time, participants in the forum paid particular attention to the global financial crisis, taking into account the results of the G20 summit in Washington.
The APEC forum was established in November of 1989 for peaceful resolution of the region’s economic, social, ecological and other problems. At present, it unites 21 countries and territories: Australia, Brunei, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Canada, China, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua-New Guinea, Peru, Russia, Singapore, the United States, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines, Chile, South Korea, and Japan.
