The meeting discussed the Federal Targeted Programme for Developing TV and Radio Broadcasting in Russia over 2009–2015, in particular the transition to digital broadcasting in the country. It was noted that as well as putting in place the ground-based broadcasting infrastructure, the satellite group also needs to be modernised. The first stage of work will involve building another two new satellites to ensure reliable broadcasting throughout the entire country.
Also on the agenda was the issue of state subsidies for postal delivery of newspapers and magazines to subscribers in order to avoid having to raise the rates in 2009.
