The full text of the Decree reads:
“Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II passed away suddenly on December 5, 2008.
Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II will forever remain in the memory of Russia’s people as an exceptional humanitarian figure who made an immense contribution to building peace and harmony between peoples and restoring Russia’s historical and cultural heritage.
Expressing my sorrow at the passing of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II, I stipulate as follows:
1. Cultural institutions and broadcasting companies shall have it proposed to them that they cancel entertainment events and programmes on the day of the funeral of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II.
2. The Russian Federation Government and the Moscow City authorities shall provide their assistance in organising the funeral of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II.
3. Russian national broadcasting companies shall provide coverage of events relating to the farewell to Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II”.
