The President stressed that since 1992 much had been said about the need to build a port in Primorsk. As the geopolitical situation changed and Russia lost its port facilities on the Baltic Sea, the new port became a necessity for Russia in order to overcome dependence on and pressure from its partners.
The port was built in only18 months instead of the planned 40.
The President also examined the general plan of the Ust-Luga port and discussed its development with experts.
