President Putin meeting the Minister of Internal Affairs, Boris Gryzlov.
One of the major objectives of the state in this policy the President sees in creating favourable conditions for attracting migrants. At the same time it is important that the country’s new citizens should settle down not “where they want or where it is better to live” but where it would be beneficial for the Russian economy.
According to the head of state the law on migration must be liberal, protect human rights, but at the same time it must observe Russia’s interests. The President asked the Minister of Internal Affairs to join the work of an interdepartmental commission on drafting the legislation on migration.
