The heads of state discussed current issues of bilateral relations, the fight against international terrorism and the situation in the Balkans.
The Russian President positively estimated the level of Russian-Slovenian cooperation and expressed hope that it would progress further. A Declaration on Friendship, signed by the prime ministers of the two countries, would give an additional impetus to our bilateral relations, the President said.
Mr Kucan pointed to the regular character of bilateral contacts and said that several days before the meeting he had received a special message from Mr Putin stating Russia’s position on the situation in Georgia. In connection with this, the Slovenian President stressed that the disquieting situation in the Caucasus should cause concern of the entire international community.
