In telephone conversations with Russian Prosecutor General Vladimir Ustinov and Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov, Mr Putin ordered them to supervise the investigation into the assassination of Magadan Regional Governor Vladimir Tsvetkov.
He made a telephone call to Lyudmila Tsvetkova, the governor’s widow, to express his condolences.
Valentin Tsvetkov was shot dead on Novy Arbat Street in Moscow, on October 18.
