Mr Putin and Mr Khristenko discussed the results and prospects of oil and gas cooperation with the CIS countries.
The President said Russian partners in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan had proposals on further cooperation in this sector. Mr Putin was interested in the results of work that had been done in 2002 in different areas of oil and gas cooperation.
Summing up the results of the year, Mr Khristenko said the year was the most eventful in gas and oil cooperation with the CIS countries.
The Deputy Prime Minister said currently Ukraine was Russia’s major partner and they managed to create a system of regulations in gas cooperation. The Russian-Ukrainian consortium had been registered to develop and administer the gas transportation system of Ukraine.
