Mr Putin and representatives of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs discussed some pressing issues related to the Russian economy, including the fight against corruption and the implementation of an administrative reform. The President said that corruption could not be eliminated overnight by punitive measures alone. It is better to create conditions which would make it easier to comply with the rules than violate them.
According to Mr Putin, a properly functioning state management system capable of taking responsible decisions is necessary for the normal work of businesses.
The President thinks that the administrative reform cannot boil down to a revision of state management functions. This is a wide range of measures which includes a rational delimitation of authority and the modernisation of the judicial system.
Touching upon the taxation of businesses, the President said that the tax burden on businesses should be lowered in the future.
