On the eve of a UN Security Council meeting, which took place on March 7 in New York, Mr Putin and Mr Bush had a telephone conversation. The two leaders exchanged opinions on the settlement of the Iraqi conflict.
The Russian President confirmed his determination to find a peaceful solution to the problem. Mr Putin stressed that all the necessary means were available and could be complemented if UN inspectors need it.
The two leaders agreed to maintain dialogue on the situation in Iraq.
The conversation took place on America's initiative.
