The Russian President also sent a message to the Turkish Prime Minister.

The message said, in part:

“I think that your election as prime minister is the logical confirmation of a course for stabilisation of the political and economic situation in the country, which is supported by the Turkish people.

“I am sure that your actions as Prime Minister will help develop Russian-Turkish relations in all spheres to the benefit of the long-term national interests of Russia and Turkey.

“We count upon the maintenance and development of constructive dialogue that was started in Moscow in December 2002. I am sure that our trust-based relations will help the further realisation of Russian-Turkish potential to the benefit of our countries, peace and stability in our common Eurasian region.”
