Working meeting with Civil Defence and Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu

This year, 260 settled areas have been flooded – ten times fewer than last year. Flood prevention measures ensured that the annual spring flooding that occurs on the Dvina, Pechora, Angara, Yenisei and other rivers did not have lead to flooding of populated areas.

Shoigu reported that forest fires have not threatened industrial facilities and economic infrastructure. Shoigu said that there has been damage in small settlements that are home to two to four families.

A total of 16 houses in small settlements have burned down as a result of forest fires. President Vladimir Putin drew the Emergency Situation Minister’s attention to the need to provide assistance to these small settlements and to the people who lived in the damaged homes, no matter what the number of people who had been residing in them.
