President Putin expressed satisfaction with regular bilateral inter-state contact and the successes achieved in economic and military cooperation. He said he was also pleased with the opportunity to synchronise positions on key issues with his Kyrgyz counterpart during the work of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
Mr Akayev, in turn, noted that Bishkek eagerly awaited President Putin for a visit on July 27–28. During the upcoming meeting the two sides intended to settle all issues concerning the deployment of the Russian airbase of Kant on Kyrgyz soil.
