The formation of SCO is happening at a difficult time, and it is important for the organisation to become established as a constructive factor in world politics, President Putin stressed.
A Declaration signed at the end of the meeting states the necessity of observing and fulfilling the main goals and principles of the UN Charter and generally accepted norms of international law.
The leaders of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan said that the acknowledgement of the important role of the UN and its security Council in solving major international problems has fundamental significance.
The heads of SCO countries also stressed that the UN can and must reform in accordance with the swiftly changing situation in the world, above all taking into account the requirements of an effective solution to problems of international security policies.
