Upon arrival in St Petersburg the Russian President visited the terminal of the new Ladoga Train Station and inspected new passenger cars for commuter and long-distance trains.
The Ladoga Train Station was built, mainly with Railways Ministry money, in time for the 300th anniversary of St Petersburg. The multi-level structure is unique in Russia: it is designed to separate the flows of commuter and long-distance passengers, which never cross.
Earlier, en route from Moscow to St Petersburg, Vladimir Putin held a working meeting with Railways Minister Gennady Fadeyev to discuss the development of railway transport.
