During their meeting, President Putin pointed to the important role of the Spanish Monarchy in maintaining stability in Europe and in developing democracy in Spain.
The President particularly stressed his friendly relationship with Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar, as well as his good working relationship with the Spanish Cabinet as a whole. Touching on bilateral trade and economic relations, President Putin emphasised that trade turnover between Russia and Spain had recently grown more than 20%.
The President also noted the joint work of the two countries on the UN Anti-Terrorism Committee.
President Putin asked Prince Felipe to give the King of Spain his kind regards and an invitation to visit Moscow again.
