The meeting focused on the recent events in Mozdok, where terrorists attacked a military hospital, as well as on the investigation of previous terrorist attacks.
The President said that negligence in the work of many state bodies, which leads to increased crimes and terrorist attacks, had gone beyond all limits.
He said it took months or years to investigate the recent high-profile crimes and as long for the cases to be tried in court. The resulting impression is that the state is unable to respond to such events.
The President asked Vyacheslav Lebedev and Vladimir Ustinov to work out a plan, within the framework of the acting legislation, to make the work of the courts and the prosecutor’s office more efficient and consonant with the present-day realities.
The coordination of joint efforts in fighting terrorists is a subject of particular importance which will be discussed at an expanded meeting with the participation of law-enforcement bodies, including the Federal Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the President said.
