The air-force troops are alert divisions and the number of these divisions should increase. It is the reserve of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Vladimir Putin stressed.
The President awarded former commander of the air-force troops, Georgy Shpak, with the order “For services to the Motherland” of the 4th degree. In accordance with existing legislation, Shpak retired from the Armed Forces when he reached the age limit for military service.
Vladimir Putin also discussed the work on realizing the Roman Declaration, which means the creation of a Russian-NATO council, with NATO’s permanent representative for the Russian Federation, Konstantin Totsky.
Cooperation with NATO partners is developing positively, Totsky said. A joint investigation into the compatibility of anti-rocket defence and the theatre of war is going well, as is cooperation in peace-keeping activity.
