Gymnasts Alina Kabayeva, Irina Chashchina, Olga Kapranova, Vera Sesina, Olesya Manuilova and Yelena Posevina, who won six gold, two silver and three bronze medals, and coaches Irina Viner and Vera Shatalina, were President Putin’s guests.
Those invited also included Anastasia Myskina, the winner of the Kremlin Cup International Tennis Tournament.
President Putin congratulated the Russian women on their outstanding results. He particularly singled out the success of the gymnastics team, stressing that it was a collective, rather than an individual victory.
