Mr Putin noted that since the Pakistani President’s visit to Moscow the relations between the two countries have been stabilizing and growing stronger. He thanked General Musharraf for his support of Russia’s participation in the summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.
On the problem of Kashmir, Mr Putin stressed that Russia had always played a positive role in the development of relations between India and Pakistan, and would continue to play a similar positive role. He reaffirmed Russia’s interest in the development of a political dialogue between Pakistan and India to solve the problem of Kashmir.
Various aspects of Russian-Pakistani cooperation, notably in the trade and economic sphere, were discussed.
