The President and Mr Yartsev discussed possible candidates for the post of chief trainer of the national football team, a decision that would be made following the election of the president of the Russian Football Union. They also discussed how to raise the rating of Russian football and looked at developing sports for children and teenagers. One of the ideas they discussed was the proposal to found the Renat Dasayev Football School to help train young goalkeepers.
Mr Putin said he hoped the Russian team would do the country proud at the European Championship and congratulated Mr Yartsev and the whole team on their victory over Wales.
