Modern textbooks should not become a platform for a new political or ideological fight, said the Russian President, stressing that it was necessary only to give the facts of history, which give young people a sense of pride in their country.
Vladimir Putin also agreed with history scholars that there is a problem in CIS states in giving an overall picture of the period of common history that united these republics in the framework of the Soviet Union. The President said that in preparing textbooks on this historical period, common methodological approaches were required.
